Pecan Pralines

Adapted from “Cajun’s Joy Cookin’ ‘n Eatin'”, a book of recipes by Mrs. Alzina Toups

Pralines are a staple in the south, and are a personal favorite of mine

Pecan Praline

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups pecan halves or pieces
  • 2 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp karo syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Boil sugar and milk till it reaches the soft ball stage and remove from heat
  • Add butter and pecans
  • Beat until mixture begins to stick the the sides of the pot
  • Spoon onto corn shucks, or equivalent for hardening

Notes

I’ve not tried this recipe yet, but I do love a good praline.
